Elizabeth Wells
My work explores permanence, using clay’s archival ability to record memories. Balanced between creating both functional and decorative objects, I take transient and emotional moments that are intangible, and mold them into physical objects significant to the human experience.
Ceramics has become a personal catharsis. My studio is filled with ceramic renditions of objects that remind me of my loved ones, of the objects they spent their lives collecting. This work acts as a physical reminder of their presence when I wish to not be alone, recounting stories I never want to forget.
